Data sources and methodology
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Every value on a title page comes from one of the sources below, and our system records which one. Here is what each source supplies and under which terms we use it.
Central Board of Film Certification (India)
Certificate category (U, UA 7+, UA 13+, UA 16+, A, S), certified length, certificate number, date and regional office, read from the public records at cbfcindia.gov.in. We publish the facts only, credit the CBFC on every page that shows them, and do not republish the CBFC’s synopses.
Wikidata
Titles, release dates, runtime, cast, crew, genres, countries, languages, ratings in other countries and identifiers. Wikidata is published under CC0 (public domain).
Wikipedia
Box office, budget and some crew details from article infoboxes, used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence with a link to the article on each page that uses them. Plot summaries on our pages are written in our own words.
TVmaze
Web series and TV show details: network or streaming platform, status, seasons, episodes and premiere dates, used under the CC BY-SA licence with credit on each series page.
Wikimedia Commons
Photos of people, used under the free licence each photo carries, with the photographer and licence named under the photo.
YouTube
Official trailers are embedded through YouTube’s player; we do not host trailer files.
Our editors
OTT release dates, posters supplied for publicity and corrections are added by our editors from official announcements.
How fresh is the data?
New releases are checked every day, titles around their release date are refreshed daily, and the full catalogue is refreshed on a rolling basis.
